Base Camp Meltdown
8 May 2005
Happy mothers day from the Adventure Consultants base camp!

Feeling the effects of last night's farewell Rakshi, Brendon departed on his return trek after breakfast. It's been great to have had you at BC Brendon!

It's Spring at BC: intense heat, massive amounts of melting ice and flowing water. Large boulders around camp are being coerced into a more stable positions. A big boulder threatens to collapse our communications tent into a nearby lake. Yes, its liquid! Various antics from Paul and Piers, a large splash and all is secure for the time being. Rob Hart informs me that boxer shorts were the order of the day for tent reading.

Strong winds aloft hold us at BC. Since the heavy snows of two days ago nobody has set foot on the Lhotse Face to C3. Today two sherpas turned back at the base of the Lhotse Face. Life in the 'patience lane'......

Hurray for now
Mike for the AC Team
