Final Dispatch
10th March 2005    GPS-pos: °' | °' | Alt: 0 M
And so a final dispatch from our February Antarctica expedition to say a big thanks...
Thanks go to all the people who have made this wonderful trip happen: Roger and Ben from the yacht Australis; Mountain Designs for fantastic equipment; Ian Chessell for the custom wooden stove boards to stop the stoves melting into the snow; DH stepping in to keep an eye on the office in our absence; Diana for ongoing assistance of every sort and Geoff at Peregrine-Adelaide on the phones for us. It would be impossible to have the full time office staff in the field for 60 days without your great help!
Thanks to our fellow expeditioners Sandy, Daryll, Aaron, John K, JohnS, Charlie, Peter and Alistair for their enthusiasm & great efforts. IN my role as chief cook I was greatly assisted by all of you, and prevented from also having to be chief bottle washer!
Last of all, many thanks to our expedition leader Duncan Chessell, who put the expedition together, provided guidance and leadership as to suitable objectives and activities over more than 7 degrees of latitude, successfully coordinated a massive range of logistics from regulations, to our masses of electronica, to what to wear and mountain safety, and provided the invaluable mountain know-how that allowed us all to experience some great environments which are simply out of the reach of the vast majority of people who travel to the polar regions, and allowed us to do it in great style. Thanks Duncan!

An extremely privelidged Jo Arnold signing off from Australis for 2005.
