Avalanche South Side Nepal camp One

Day 37

Earlier today 5:15am local time an Avalanche peeled off high on the west shoulder of Everest crashing down into Nepal – the south side and destroying camp one. Early reports have up to 5 people badly hurt with one Nepali evacuated down through the ice fall, most of the members were from Dan Mazur’s team. Dan’s team has had a bad season with two deaths on their acclimatisation climb of Pumori then a crevasse fall (1 dead) on Everest then this latest incident with luckily only injuries. Lets hope that things are only the improve as the list is long enough already. ALL the people on the Himex trip and in fact ALL the North Side (Tibet/China) expeditions are totally unaffected by this incident.
We ALL hope that the climbers invloved are OK and make a speedy recovery.
