Sept. 20 Camp III

Hello everyone out there, this is Dave calling in from (wait guys, what camp are we at?) oh yeah, Camp III on Cho Oyu. It’s Monday, the 20th and it’s about 5:45pm local Nepal time. We are all snuggled into our sleeping bags, we’ve got a little bit of oxygen going and everyone is quite happy. These guys have done a great job getting up to Camp III. Everyone is healthy, everyone is strong. We are all just crossing our fingers for a good day of weather tomorrow. If we get up, it really would be the icing on the cake but so far these guys have done an incredible job and I’ve been really impressed with them.

So we kind of have a marginal forecast, not too good but not too bad. There are a few other parties at Camp III hoping to go in the morning. Our plan is to wake up around 1:30am, assuming there is not too much wind and get out of our tents and start moving by about 3:00am and hopefully get on the summit between 8:00am and 11:00am, so keep your fingers crossed for us. We are hoping for some acceptable weather for a summit bid and if we do get the weather I know these guys will do great. We will get in touch with you sometime during our summit bid, if that’s where we are, otherwise we will give you a call from Camp II.

All our best,
Dave and the Team
