Either we fight now, as a crew -
or we will die as individuals!

This line formed the basis of a quote displayed in the training room of a local St Johns family the Barrington’s. The crew today had the pleasure of meeting these guys through Junior Team Canada Graduate Kate, it has been a pretty inspiring day the Barrington Family race on the local Quidi Vidi Lake in a six man rowing boat. These boats have a fixed seat unlike the rowing we are used to seeing at the Olympics. Still these guys train like champions and take their sport very seriously, they have for last number of years been winners of the Annual Royal St Johns Fixed Seat Regatta. With expert help on hand the crew took the opportunity to get wet and cold and experience fixed seat rowing. With a bit of persistence and several swear words the crew came good combining at least a dozen strokes without mistake! Thanks for the row guys but we will if you don’t mind stick with ocean rowing. Something to do with not needing technique.
On the weather front we are pleased to announce that the fog, rain, wind and cold have returned, happy days. Certain members of the crew have taken this badly as it seems to have interrupted their plans on getting a good tan. Is it possible they have forgot what we are here for?
We do have some bad news, it seems Mr Vivaldi’s recovery may take longer than first expected; today has been another emotional day for the crew as they awoke to find Mr Vivaldi in a bad way. As the picture shows he was not his usual larger than inflated self. Doctors have warned that he may need to undergo further surgery to prevent any more air escaping. We will keep you posted on his progress and our sanity!
Yours Aye
