The rowgirls have landed...
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. It's not because we got knocked over on our final mile by a rogue windsurfer but simply that since we arrived in Antigua on Wednesday evening we haven't stopped the recovery, relaxation and of course celebration procedure.
By some miraculous occurrence / fantastic steering & 'tacking' skills we managed to cross the finish line unaided before meeting the support rib and rowing into English Harbour to a truly amazing welcome..... Boats, flares, crowds, champagne! We literally stumbled from the boat into the arms of our loved ones - a truly amazing and unforgettable experience.
We have had the opportunity to endure the most incredible journey and we thank you all for coming with us and supporting us. Special thanks to Andrew Vinsen for his ongoing weather reporting and guidance and to Tom Kemp for keeping our lines of communication open.
We would also like to express our thanks to GE Money Home Lending, our title sponsor, and Shelterbox without whom the trip would not have been possible. Their support and encouragement has enabled us to complete this truly life-changing challenge, whilst raising funds to buy more Shelterboxes. Thanks to all our other sponsors who have made the row possible (please see the 'sponsors' section of our website for a full list!).
Here's to some easy recovery to the sound of reggae and the sip of rumpunch. Thanks for being with us every stroke of the way. One lesson we've all learned over the past 78 days is that you really can achieve more than you may think you can. Take the challenge - go on, we dare you!
Signing off for the final time. Yours in adventure, the Rowgirls.
