Waiting it out Camp 1

The wind still howls across the slopes above so we're still here at Camp 1. We have been watching huge lenticular clouds poised like invading space ships high in the sky above us, soaring in the lee of the Ellsworth mountain range in which Vinson Massif lies. They tell us the winds aloft are still too strong to make a shift to our top camp. We all hope that tomorrow the weather gods will look favorably towards us!

The weather is still playing games with us and we are unable to move up to Camp 3. Strong winds scour the slopes above us, but luckily our camp is positioned such that we avoid most of the wind.

Hooray, it's rest day in camp one. We managed to drag ourselves out of bed at lunch time for coffee and breakfast.
