Ice Bergs and Exploration
13 February 2006
Yesterday we sailed south to a small island, anchoring completely off the map, that the skipper had heard of through a friend of a friend. It was packed with huge icebergs and the visibility was terrible.

Eventually Steve declared it unsafe and we had to sail 3 hours back north to a known safe spot.

Today we came back, lured by dozens of unclimbed peaks. Maneuvering around massive icebergs and slowly creeping along the coast with no known depths or maps. We crept into a small bay and tied up under an unclimbed mountain.

Pretty cool to think we are probably the first visitors to this island, despite the two seals dozing on a berg nearby. Tomorrow we'll have an attempt on tne virgin summit of Mt Edwards......

Wish us luck,

Mark

P.S. Happy valentines day from all the boys here to all the girls at home.
