Crossed another antipode...
21 April 2012 20.3087N,83.3263W
Dear friends and supporters,
Today Erden crossed yet another antipode on his human powered circumnavigation of the globe. He is now just 155 NM south of Cabo San Antonio, at the west end of Cuba.
You may have noticed on the ORS tracking map (upper right hand corner of this page) that the destination mark now sits at Galveston, Texas, USA. If winds and currents cooperate, Erden will pass by (and by-pass) Cancun and continue to row into the Gulf of Mexico, aiming for Galveston. But as always, time will tell. Weather, winds, currents and ultimately time dictate the final destination. We can only hope he will make it there safely by mid-May. He wants to be off the water by end of May as hurricane season offically begins in the gulf.
As was the case near Madagscar, corrosion, between the endless salt water & humidity, has finally wreaked havoc with his handheld device, which is his written word for dispatching to all of you. This small device may have finally had enough of the sea afterall.
In the meantime, I will continue to relay messages and keep you posted. Please stay tuned.
Nancy
